I was initially very disappointed by "The Final Frontier" : it was not the Maiden I knew in the past.
But I feel that this album has to be listened to more than 5 or 6 times to be appreciated....

In the meanwhile, I recently listened to my favourite Ayreon album, "universal migrator", where Bruce Dickinson sang as guest ;) and it is simply excellent

I recently listened again the album. And was much more disapointed than the first times I listened it to. If I except "The talisman" the songs (imo) are not very inspirated, the chorus don't work and when they do, it's only based on things the band already did. AMOLAD was a great album (the 3 final tracks were simply amazing). But I feel a tension in the voice of Bruce (My vocal idol) when he goes higher and it's sad.

"Anyway !" as says Bruce, Maiden remains my favorite heavy-metal band.

I must admit that when i first listened to 'The Final Frontier' i was left thinking i'm not too sure about this album !! But after a few listens, as Scudabear said, it started to grow on me despite the more progressive feel to it !! My fave tracks on the album are 'The Talisman', 'The Alchemist', 'Coming Home' and 'The Isles Of Avalon'.
I saw Maiden in concert recently and the tracks off 'The Final Frontier' sound much better live than on the album.
I agree with you nico:ego, that AMOLAD is a great album !! In my opinion it's the best album Maiden have released since, my vocal idol too, Bruce Dickinson returned to the band in 1999.
Bruce's vioce has changed over the years, can't quite hit the notes he used to, but to me he is and always will be the best male Metal Vocalist ever !!!

Have you got an all time fave Maiden album nico:ego and Scudabear ??

Listening to Maiden's new best of album 'From Fear To Eternity' !!!

Well...as an "old-fashioned fan", my favourite album is without any doubt "Powerslave" ;)

Without any hesitation : Seventh son of a seventh son. If I except the horrible "1,2... 1,2,3, 4 ! Can I play with madness ?"

It's great to see that someone shares my opinion that 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' is their fave Maiden album :ohyeah: To me it's the most complete Maiden album and shows the band at their bombastic best !! I agree that Can I Play Madness is not one of Maiden's best ever songs..... way too commercial for my liking and never sounds right when included in a live set list !!!
